Questions
How do APRA CPS 234 and CPS 230 apply to AI?
Both apply once an AI tool touches your information assets or a critical operation. CPS 234 requires you to secure that data and assess the controls of any third party holding it, and CPS 230 can make an AI provider a material service provider. We document each build so it fits that evidence.
What AI solutions for financial services are Australian firms using?
Lenders, insurers and advisers are using AI for control evidence collection, client intake, file notes, document review and board or regulator reporting. In each case AI prepares the work and staff make the decisions, with every AI step logged for audit.
Can AI make credit or claims decisions?
AI can prepare the file, extract the figures and recommend an outcome, while a credit officer or claims assessor makes the decision. We keep that boundary in every build, which also keeps responsible lending and claims handling obligations with accountable people.
Can AI monitor emails for compliance in a financial services firm?
Yes. AI reads emails, classifies them against your compliance rules, such as missing advice warnings or complaint triggers, and routes flagged items to a reviewer. It runs inside your environment, and every classification is logged so you can show the regulator what was checked.
Can AI read KYC and AML/CTF documents?
Yes. AI extracts identity details, ownership structures and document dates from KYC and AML/CTF evidence, checks them against your onboarding rules and flags gaps for a compliance officer. Final verification decisions and any suspicious matter reporting stay with your staff.
Will this pass our risk and security review?
It is designed to. We bring your IT and risk teams in during discovery, document the architecture, data flows and access controls in your own templates, and use read-only access wherever possible, so the review is complete before any build starts.
