Karratha, Port Hedland and the Pilbara
AI consulting for Karratha and the Pilbara
AI consulting and operational data work for Pilbara mining, rail, port and LNG operations, so one question across sites no longer needs a spreadsheet.
What we work on in the Pilbara
Mine, rail and port as one system
Each link counts a tonne at a different moment, so reconciling starts with definitions.
Iron ore operations
Several historians, each with its own tag naming, delay definitions and shift boundaries.
LNG and gas processing
Process history reported to plant, commercial and regulatory audiences on different periods.
Remote operations data
Driverless haul fleets and central control rooms produce more data than reporting expected.
Intermittent connectivity
Edge aggregation and buffering decided at design time, before gaps accumulate.

Federation is the hard part
Pulling every site's data into one place puts the disagreements in the same database. A shared asset model removes the person who reconciles conventions every period, and its value multiplies with the number of sites.

How we work with Pilbara operations
Scope
A fixed fee for phase one, set after a discovery call with operations and IT.
Workshops on site or in Perth
Our consultants travel to site or to your remote operations centre.
Remote between visits
Most work happens wherever the data is, which is often Perth.
Handover
Models and definitions documented so the next person can maintain them.
Questions
How do you combine historian data from several Pilbara sites?
With a shared asset model that maps each site's tags to common equipment, states and definitions, so a query asks about a crusher or a car dumper instead of a tag. We usually start with two sites that report one metric differently, then add sites once the definitions hold.
Does Pilbara data work need people on site?
Usually not. Pilbara mining moved decisions into remote operations centres in Perth, so the data is already centralised and reachable. Where a site visit adds something, Solve8's consultants go.
Do you work with driverless haulage and remote operations data?
We work with the data those systems produce and leave the control systems alone. The common gap is context: which asset a record belongs to, what state it was in and how it lines up with production.
What experience does your team have in iron ore and LNG?
Across our consultants' careers, engagements at BHP, Rio Tinto and Senex Energy, including mining data systems and large data platform delivery. That work showed us how large mining and energy operators structure historian, production and reporting data across many sites.
